Alex Zarlengo is a dancer, model, singer and actor based in New York City. Besides his background in concert dance and musical theatre, you may know him from his work on the West Coast in music videos, television, and commercial work.
Alex Zarlengo started dancing when he was six after seeing "Riverdance" performed at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. He studied dance recreationally at Heidi Parker Catelli's Studio of Dance in his hometown of Mattapoisett, MA, for five years before advancing to more focused training.
He began dancing at an intensive level after changing schools to attend Kathy Medina's Studio of Dance, spending six years on their competition team. During this time, Alex studied ballet and jazz at a competitive level, dancing at regional competitions around New England and eventually winning a national soloist title in 2007.
Following this Alex began his pre-med study in Psychology and Neuroscience at Salve Regina University, where he also began dancing and choreographing for the SRU Dance Club as well as the Extensions Dance Company during the academic year. He graduated Magna cum laude with a BA in Psychology with additional honors as a Pell Scholar and Psi Chi Honors Society Member.
Alex joined professional contemporary ballet company CONNetic Dance in June of 2009, while still in college, and has toured regionally with them creating many memorable performances. Some include originating the role of The White Rabbit in "Alice in Wonderland", Prince Charming in "Grimm's Fairy Tales", Lysander in "A Midsummer Night's Dream," Van Helsing in "Dracula: and 10 seasons as The Nutcracker Prince in "The Nutcracker Suite and Spicy".
Aside from contemporary ballet Alex has worked multiple contracts commercially in theme parks and cruise ships. As a production cast dancer and aerialist for Norwegian Cruise Lines, Alex carried his aerial training to a career as a lyra soloist in commercials and for events.
In addition to dancing, Alex is a singer having performed in multiple classic musicals including "Singin' in the Rain" , "Hello, Dolly!" , "Mary Poppins", and "The Music Man" for North Shore Music Theatre and Theatre by the Sea. Most recently, Alex added the pop musicals "The Rocky Horror Show" and "Kinky Boots" to his resume, performing the recent post-Broadway production at the Gateway Playhouse.
While recovering from a major injury, Alex worked in Hollywood as a dancer, model, and art department production assistant for Broadway star and internet sensation Todrick Hall. During these venture, Alex was privileged to work on "The Forbidden" visual album with a number of celebrities and achieved a background in film production at the Universal Studios back lot in Hollywood. Alex also worked and danced in the viral internet music videos "Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels" and "I Like Boys"
In addition to music video projects, Alex has appeared in a number of television shows including "Divorce", "Broad City", "Ray Donovan" and the Netflix film, "Set it Up"
Between classical ballet, commercial dance, aerial work, musical theater, music video and film work, Alex also has worked in the fashion industry as a model and design assistant, achieving advanced insight into costume design and the beauty industry. Taken collectively, Alex has well-rounded capabilities both in front of and behind the camera. Alex currently lives in New York City.
